Plum Ethical's mission is to bring you the best in ethical fashion, that ensures you get stylish clothes, handbags or jewellery whilst ensuring that everyone who has contributed to their production has been fairly paid and works in a safe environment.
We have tried to chose the best ethical bags, jewellery and clothes that each make some contribution to a better world. We support fairtrade ventures, and collectives that are making a real difference in their local community. Some of the bags are made in factories, but under much better conditions than are normally found in that industry. Some items are recycled or "upcycled" (such as all the dA-LaTA bags), and others are sustainably made.
Although we aim to source the best in ethical fashion, contact us if you know of any ethical bags, clothes or jewellery that you think we should be stocking. We especially want to support people who are fairtrade and supporting their local economy, whether that's in the UK or abroad.
What about price? Do we believe in trying to make everything as cheap as possible? No. Fair-trade artisans often have a skill and craft that is not present in sweatshop goods. Higher-value ethical items mean more money going back to the, designer, artists, and their community. We pay a fair wage for beautiful items, and we sell to people who are willing to buy them on that basis.
Our aim is to provide a collection of beautiful things that will be make you happy every time you see them. The things we sell have made a difference all the way up the supply chain, and that's good, so you can enjoy that they look beautiful and make you feel special.
Plum Ethical is run by Simon Moakes, who believes in a fairer world and hopes that Plum Ethical will, in a small way encourage a better balanced world.
Plum Ethical are members of the Ethical Fashion Forum, and Ethical Junction, and ClearlySo, and we encourage to you consider joining too, to support their work.
